Our Beginnings
Founded in 2023 as the 501(c)(3) arm of Equality Indiana, the Equality Indiana Educational Fund works to restore Indiana’s proud tradition of Hoosier Hospitality—a spirit of community that is welcoming to all. Created by concerned community leaders, the Fund is a response to the growing concerns from LGBTQIA+ Hoosiers and allies about harmful anti-trans legislation and anti-LGBTQIA+ policies combined with the lack of equal protections for all Hoosiers, which threaten the values that define our state, as one that welcomes EVERYONE EQUALLY.
To address this statewide problem, its founding Board of Directors adopted a mission to secure comprehensive and inclusive nondiscrimination, equality, and related legal protections for all LGBTQIA+ Hoosiers by developing a stronger civic community through educating, empowering, and energizing Hoosier pro-LGBTQIA+ individuals to participate in civic and pro-democracy activities.
