Founded in 2023, the Equality Indiana Educational Fund was created by concerned community leaders answering urgent calls from LGBTQIA+ Hoosiers—especially transgender youth and their families—who are facing an unprecedented wave of discriminatory legislation. These harmful laws, combined with the absence of statewide nondiscrimination protections, threaten the safety, dignity, and freedoms of our community and undermine the core values of Hoosier Hospitality.

Our voter engagement program exists because political attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights don’t happen in a vacuum—they happen when too few pro-equality voters are informed, registered, and empowered to make their voices heard at the ballot box. Restoring the freedoms of transgender Hoosiers and protecting the LGBTQIA+ community requires stronger civic participation, especially in communities that have historically been excluded or targeted.
