Founded in 2023, the Equality Indiana is an advocacy organization created by concerned community leaders responding to urgent calls from LGBTQIA+ Hoosiers—particularly transgender youth and their families—who are facing an unprecedented wave of discriminatory legislation. These harmful laws, coupled with the lack of statewide nondiscrimination protections, threaten the safety, dignity, and freedoms of our community, undermining the core values of Hoosier Hospitality.

Our voter engagement program exists because political attacks on LGBTQIA+ equality don’t occur in isolation—they arise when too few pro-equality voters are informed, registered, and empowered to make their voices heard at the ballot box. Restoring the freedoms of transgender Hoosiers and protecting the LGBTQIA+ community necessitates stronger civic participation, especially in communities that have historically been marginalized or targeted.
